The Book of Proverbs teaches us to be Kings and Queens in the world that God has given us. The royal duty means that we are called to share our abundance with the world out of the abundance of gifts God has given us (II Cor. 9:8). If we are to be imitators of God, then we are called to be like him in the way He distributes His gifts.
The Bible presents this three-fold pattern of kingly distribution:
First, the fruits of our labors are to be used to provide for our families (I Tim. 5:8) and all that entails. Secondly, the fruits of our labors are to be given over to the tithe (Num. 18:21-24) and, finally, to others through charity and hospitality (Gal. 6:10).
